Gender-Based Violence and the Law

Gender-based violence affects nearly every area of legal practice, from family and criminal law to immigration, employment and civil litigation. Lawyers who encounter these issues often lack a dedicated space to share knowledge, ask questions or connect with colleagues facing similar challenges.

What the Section offers

This Section will give legal professionals a forum to:

  • Stay informed of developing legislation, policies and case law
  • Share knowledge and best practices across areas of practice
  • Collaborate with members of the New Brunswick legal community
  • Discuss emerging issues affecting survivors, families and the justice system
  • Contribute to educational and professional development opportunities

Who can join

Lawyers practicing any area of law with an interest in gender-based violence issues are welcome. You don't need prior experience, just an interest in the topic.
