ELECTIONS
21. Expressions of Interest
21(1)
No later than February 15 of each year, the Executive Director, on behalf of the Nominating Committee, shall circulate to all Branch members a request for expressions of interest in the following positions:

Treasurer [see §18(2)(a)]
-
Elected members of Council [see §18(2)(b)]

The request must require that expressions of interest be submitted to the Executive Director within 30 days of circulation.
22. Report of the Nominating Committee
22(1)
No later than April 1 of each year, the Nominating Committee shall submit to the Executive Director a Nomination Report listing the names of recommended members for:

Treasurer
-
Any vacant elected Council positions
22(2)
The Nominating Committee may recommend more than one person per position.
If so, an election shall be held under §25, regardless of whether additional nominations are received under §23.
23. Call for Additional Nominations
23(1)
No later than April 10 of each year, the Executive Director shall:

Circulate the Nomination Report to all Branch members

Call for additional nominations
23(2)
The circulated report shall include the following (modified if needed):
"If no other nominations are received by the Executive Director on or before April 30, [year], the slate of nominees set out in the report of the Nominating Committee will be declared elected by acclamation."
23(3)
A Branch member may submit an additional nomination for a position listed in §22(1) if:

The nominee consents in writing, and
-
The nomination is supported in writing by at least two other members of the Branch.
24. Election by Acclamation
If no additional nominations are received by April 30, and subject to §22(2), the Immediate Past-President shall declare the nominees in the Nominating Committee’s Report elected by acclamation.
25. Election Procedure
25(1)
If additional nominations are received by April 30, the Executive Director shall conduct an election for each contested position, following:

Any additional rules set by the Immediate Past-President
25(2)
The Immediate Past-President shall act as the Chief Electoral Officer with authority to:

Set election rules
-
Appoint scrutineers
-
Decide all issues regarding:
-
Candidate and voter eligibility
-
General conduct of the election
-
25(3) Procedure
-
The Executive Director prepares a ballot listing all nominees for each contested position.
-
The ballot return deadline (no later than May 31) must be specified on the ballot.
-
Ballots are distributed via regular or electronic mail to each Branch member.
-
Ballots must be sent at least 25 days before the return deadline.
-
Returned ballots determine the result.
-
The nominee with the most votes wins.
-
In the event of a tie, the Immediate Past-President casts the deciding vote.
-
The Immediate Past-President announces the final, binding results.
26. Commencement of Terms
26(1)
Terms of office for Table Officers and elected Council members begin on September 1 following the election.
26(2)
On September 1 of each year:

The Treasurer becomes Vice-President
-
The Vice-President becomes President
-
The President becomes the Immediate Past-President
