Biography
Following the completion of my Law Degree from Université de Moncton in 1996, I obtained my Masters Degree in Taxation from Université de Sherbrooke. In 1999, I was admitted to the Law Society of Ontario and have since embarked on a career focused on taxation issues from both sides of the table.
As a litigator with the Tax Litigation Section of the Department of Justice, I represented Canada Revenue Agency on numerous issues in the Tax Court of Canada, in the Federal Court and in the Federal Court of Appeal.
in 2009, I assumed the role of Counsel at audit stage to work with CRA’s International Large Business Directorate. As a former litigator forming part of the audit team, I advised on substantive and procedural matters in large files, avoidance, and international tax matters.
I have also served CRA as a project officer with the Advanced Tax Rulings Directorate and as a senior technical specialist with the Competent Authority Services where I participated in the resolution of double taxation, both on technical cases and in transfer pricing disputes.
In addition to my work in the Public Sector, I have advised and represented clients in private accounting firms in New Brunswick and Ontario.
Over the years, I have been involved in the tax community as a speaker to the tax community and at CRA events. In the fall of 2019, I was Professor at Ottawa University Faculty of Law in the French Common Law Program. From 2001 to 2005, I was Instructor to the Law Society of Ontario, Business Law - Tax.
As of December 2019, I opened my tax dispute resolution boutique in Dieppe, New Brunswick. With my knowledge and experience in government and in public accounting firms, I have a unique skillset to provide quality legal tax advice and representation in a CRA audit, in the objection and litigation processes and in the resolution of double taxation.
While my office is in New Brunswick, I represent taxpayers of the Atlantic region in both official languages.
